Talk’n’Tunes: Making an Impact for Little People with Speech Delays

At Creative Therapy Adelaide, we are proud of the incredible progress made in our Talk’n’Tunes program over the past year. Designed to support children with speech delays, Talk’n’Tunes offers a small group setting where children and their caregivers work with our skilled therapists to apply speech therapy principles while fosteringf language development in a fun, engaging environment.
In 2024, our program continued to target key developmental areas, including social skills, attention, language, communication, motor skills, and emotional regulation, all through the power of music. Facilitated by Speech Pathologist Lucy Leane and Registered Music Therapist Rina Yu, our sessions have been both enjoyable and beneficial for the children attending.
One of the major highlights of this year was our collaboration with The University of Adelaide’s Speech Pathology Department. Four Honours students worked closely with us, conducting research as part of their projects on the Talk’n’Tunes program for children under five years old. This research led to the creation of a parent satisfaction survey, an informative booklet about the program, and an easy-read version of the booklet for families and funding bodies.

Talk’n’Tunes offers a small group setting where children and their caregivers work with our skilled therapists to foster important speech and language development in a fun, engaging environment.
Thanks to this partnership, we’ve gained valuable insights into how to improve and expand the program in the future. The feedback from parents and caregivers has been invaluable, with many expressing a desire for more handouts and information to take home. We are excited to incorporate this feedback and are in the process of producing additional resources, which will be available for both families and funding bodies in 2025.
As we move into 2025, we are excited about the future of Talk’n’Tunes. While we are sad to say goodbye to Lucy, we are pleased to announce that Louise, a jazz-trained vocalist and speech pathologist, will be joining Rina as the new facilitator for the program. Additionally, we are excited to welcome Esther Lange, a new speech pathologist, who will be joining the team and bringing her fresh energy to the group.
In 2025, we plan to expand the program based on the feedback and data collected this year. We are also working on enhancing our resources to ensure that families and funding bodies have all the tools and information they need to fully engage with the program.
We look forward to continuing to make a positive impact on the lives of children with speech delays and their families. If you’re interested in learning more about Talk’n’Tunes or partnering with us, we’d love to hear from you!
