SUMMER DANCE PROGRAM
Dance, Dance, Dance is a mixed group for 10-17 year olds, which aims to empower children and teenagers to explore dance and movement. Participants will learn to create and collaborate with others in a safe, non-judgemental environment facilitated by a registered dance movement therapist. This 4-day program (4 x 90 min sessions) will have the end goal of a performance for families, which aims to build self-confidence and a sense of achievement. Dates: 11th, 13th, 18th & 20th Jan.
We will also be offering Dance Movement Therapy Intensives over the school holidays, including one-on-one sessions for children and young people. Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) is a non-verbal, creative therapy that uses movement, and dance to explore a connection between body and mind. DMT supports people to own their space, movement and emotions. Available Tuesday-Thursday from 1PM.
SUMMER MUSIC PROGRAM
We have so much on offer as part of our summer music stream. Music Studio Sessions is an inclusive program for 10-17 year olds, which will give participants the opportunity to explore what it’s like to be in a band in a supportive context. Aiming to foster social skills, cooperation and communication, participants will work collaboratively to select songs and learn to play them. Our registered music therapist will facilitate a songwriting workshop and the group will have the opportunity to record a song using our recording studio. The program will have the end goal of performance for families. Time: 3-5PM 10th, 12th, 16th & 18th Jan.
Over the summer holidays, we will also be offering Music Therapy Intensives, providing participants with the opportunity to experience music therapy intensively, either weekly, or multiple sessions in a week. In a music therapy session, people might sing, play instruments, dance, write their own songs and record them, perform, listen and talk about music. Behind all of these activities are objectives and goals that are working towards helping to improve a person’s health, functioning and wellbeing. Available Monday-Friday all day.
