Questions
Practical answers to some of the questions people often have before beginning speech therapy.
You do not need to know for certain before contacting us. Tell us briefly what has been happening and what you would like support with. Our team can help you decide whether speech therapy appears to be an appropriate starting point.
You generally do not need a referral to enquire or access speech therapy as a private or NDIS client. An appropriate referral or treatment plan may be required if you intend to claim an eligible Medicare rebate.
Your speech pathologist will take time to understand your concerns, communication needs, strengths and goals. The appointment may include conversation, observation or assessment activities, depending on the person and the reason for attending.
The cost depends on the appointment length, service type and funding arrangement. Our team will explain the expected cost before an appointment is confirmed, so you can make an informed decision.
Creative Therapy Adelaide is a registered NDIS provider and also welcomes private clients. Medicare rebates may be available for eligible clients with an appropriate referral or treatment plan. We can help you understand what information may be required.
No. Music and creativity are not compulsory and are not used simply for the sake of it. Your speech pathologist may use them when they are clinically appropriate and likely to support engagement, regulation, confidence or communication goals.
There is no single schedule that suits everyone. Appointment frequency and the length of therapy depend on individual goals, needs, progress, availability and circumstances. Your speech pathologist will discuss recommendations with you rather than expecting an open-ended commitment.
Yes, we are currently accepting speech therapy enquiries. Appointment options can vary according to the clinician, preferred time, location and type of support required. Send us a short enquiry and we will check the most suitable options.
